So I sorta conducted a poll last week with this question : if you have the opportunity to take a sneak a peek at the future and see how it all turns out for you, would you do it or you’ll rather wait and watch it all unfold? Quite a lot of people responded with amazing answers, I sure learnt a lot and would love to share.
Of course, there were two school of thoughts on the issue, the ones who would peek and those who wouldn’t. Both sides shared amazing reasons. First on those that said they wouldn’t peek:
The best way to predict the future is to create it. The future isn’t some sweet romantic out-of-the movies days ahead, it’s we living the present and using it to lay a foundation for the days ahead. You know what someone else told me? He said the future isn’t the future anymore if it’s lived now but the present. It’s better to be patient as God makes all things beautiful in His own time. Another person said peeking into the future would only make one too self conscious and one other view was that if at the present, we already know how exactly the future is then that just sucks out all the fun of waiting
Now on the second view. If they had the opportunity to peek then they would do so to ease the tension of having to worry and wait. Someone pointed out that there’s nothing wrong if one checked but the real deal now is what the person does AFTER he checks, would you go about boasting how nice it is? or lazy around cos you’re rest assured? or would it be crying and having a pity party cos it wasn’t what you wanted?
So from my point of view, I’d rather wait because I truly agree that the future is simply living the results of what we do today, it’s not exactly some far away moment that we’ll need a soothsayer to predict. We predict how our own future would be by building it today. An architect wouldn’t need someone else to tell him how his building would look like because he already has a plan and is simply working towards it likewise as humans, once we truly understand our purpose, goals and objectives then we simply need to work with that creating our tomorrow. Remember that song we used to sing when we were younger? Que Sera, Sera..
When I was just a little girl
I asked my mother
What will I be
Will I be pretty
Will I be rich
Here’s what she said to me
Que Sera, Sera
Whatever will be, will be
The future’s not ours to see
Que Sera, Sera
What will be, will be….
So darling, I think instead of worrying about how your future would turn out or wishing you could take a peek, just keep calm, build your own future yourself and put your trust in God. To all those who participated and shared their views, lots of love. Thanks for reading! *kisses*
P.S Feel free to share your thoughts too..
