To cry or to not (II)

Hi! A big thanks to all those who commented on the last post, I truly loved getting to hear from you and hear your thoughts. If you haven’t yet, you can do so on https://conversehouse.wordpress.com/2019/05/27/to-cry-or-to-not/. To conclude the post, I wanted to share some benefits of crying:

  • It’s self soothing
  • Dulls pain
  • Detoxifies the body
  • Relieves stress
  • Restores emotional balance

Truth is, as humans, whether we choose to accept it or not, we are emotional beings and our emotions are a big part of our lives. More importantly however, is how we handle these emotions, do we ignore them? bottle them up? or express them in unhealthy or healthy ways? How do you handle negative emotions? how do you grief? Crying may or may not be your go to mechanism but regardless of where you fall into, it’s important to note that crying does not equate weakness or cowardice but simply one of the many ways to deal with emotions. It’s also helpful to make conscious notes of your preferred coping mechanism, how you deal with stress and manage difficult emotions. Unhealthy habits could lead you down the drain and fast.

I’d really recommend this article for more insights into different coping mechanisms https://www.goodtherapy.org/blog/psychpedia/coping-mechanisms
