Hi there! Compliments of the season to you. So I wrote this a while back but then a little extra reminder here and there hurts no one so here we go…
- Little things matter too- I know you started the year with one goal or the other to meet and that’s great but even as you do your review and resolutions for the next, don’t forget the little things matter too. The seemingly small achievements you made this year counts, you might not have gotten every single thing done or met every milestone set but each step you took counts.
- Appearances could be deceiving – It’s easy to fall into the trick of comparison at this time where everyone is highlighting their blessings of the year but don’t beat yourself up about anything. Not everything on social media is real and just as you only post what you want other people to see, don’t forget others do the same too.
- Everything happens for a reason- As cliche as it might sound, I do believe this to be true. Every good time and the not so good one, happened for a reason. Could have been either as a reward or a consequence, for future purposes or results of past actions. Sometimes it’s hard to tell why things happen the way they do but it’s refreshing to see how they all work out in the end.
- Every relationship mattered- Every person in you life at one point or the other mattered. Throughout the course of the year, new relationships were birthed, some old ones were strengthened while some ended but regardless, each one had a part to play in wherever you are right now. So be grateful for them and be observant of whatever lesson each brought.
- It’s never too late to dream – Yes, a new year means a new age, means an older you but never let that be a source of discouragement to you in terms of having a new dream. Just as the new year means an older you, it also comes as a new slate so really with the desire and determination, you’re good to go.
- Good things take time- Been seeing a lot of posts on how the new year would just great and all about “balling”, but what if it’s not? what if rather than harvesting, it’s another year to continue planting seeds and working towards dreams to be actualized and goals to be achieve?. In as much as we always want things to happen whenever we want them, it is important to remember good things take time and not just to those who wait but to those who work towards it.
- Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it- Jan 1, 2020, trust me, this date has no magic whatsoever with it. If you start the new year with the same baggage as the last, without learning anything from 2019, you’re bound to make the exact mistakes, if not worse. So even as you highlight the blessings of the old year, don’t forget the lessons too.
- Be grateful– For you, 2019 might have be the best year ever and that’s great or maybe it wasn’t, maybe it was really rough but regardless of which it was, you lived it, you made it through so be thankful. For the lessons for the moments, for the blessings, for the people, for all of it.
Leaving you with one of my favourite goals – Set a goal so big, you can’t achieve it until you grow into a person who can. If you did this in this past year, great, keep growing in the new one, if you haven’t yet, try it.
